How She Started with Designing Jewelry
How She Started with Designing Jewelry

1. What was it about making jewelry that first attracted you to this medium?

Instant Gratification! I can sit down and an hour later walk away with a finished piece of art jewelry. There is something so satisfying about creating something beautiful in small amounts of time.

2. Describe your first piece of jewelry that you designed and constructed. What did you think about it back when you first made it? What do you think about it now?

I would say my first piece of jewelry was a necklace that I created to enter in the Art Bead Scene monthly challenge. The theme was Coffee Haus and I had such a blast pulling together all of the coffee related components into my necklace design. As it turns out, I won that month! So being really paid off! I look back on it now and I still think it was a successful piece!

3. What was the most challenging piece of jewelry that you ever attempted to make?

I had to create several pieces for the Wire Style 2 book that Denise Peck wrote published by Interweave. I have enjoyed working with wire in the past but have never really considered myself a seasoned pro. I struggled with the design concept for each of the pieces and never really felt confident in the outcomes, until I received positive feedback from Denise.
